Annecy

After an early start to collect Georgie at Geneva, with traffic in Annecy at a standstill, we walked into this most beautiful town and had a lunch picnic watching the activity on the turquoise water. On the way to Albertville later in the afternoon, I counted about 100 microlights swooping over the majestic cliffs.

Reberty

Arriving at Geneva on Wednesday lunchtime, I met up with Adam and James and set off South to Chambery to pick up a minibus. Then back East through Albertville and down to Moutiers, before the climb up the mountain to Les Menuires and a few minutes further to Reberty Village. With a lot to do to get the chalets ready, we got stuck straight in, taking time to look out over the mountains at regular intervals! On Friday we walked a few 100m up the slopes, looking back at the snow-capped peaks.

Foxwells

Lynne and Nigel came to stay on a sunny weekend and the start of The Azores Race (with Julia's husband Pete in it). We watched from crowded Pendennis Point as the yachts set off South West, beating into a strong Westerly wind. After pasties in town, we walked the coast path from Helford Passage back to Mawnan Smith, taking in lots of little beaches and great vistas. In the evening we went to the 'Double Bounce' gig at Perranwell, where Steve's band were absolutely fantastic, playing a huge range of genres and decades. Amanda had a surprise: meeting two more classmates from Priorswood who she hadn't seen for 33 years. We ate and drank our way through two sets and got home late. So we had a lovely beach day to finish off.

Porthmeor

Steve, Jenny, Jonathan and Rachel invited us over to their St Ives holiday pad for a 24 hour spot of supper, surf and walks. Starting with Prosecco on the beach, we then went seal spotting and watched the Gannets diving on fish. After a big sleep we frolicked in the waves, with the opportunity to try SUPing in some pretty challenging conditions. A very pleasant stay on the North Coast.

Aussies In Town

Phil and Eleanor arrived in heavy rain for a couple of nights with us. It was great to catch up on all of the family and business news. After a relaxing (weather related) start, we ventured into town for pasties and a tour of amenities. Later we stopped off at Mylor Harbour and then drinks at The Pandora, before an evening at The Cove, Maenporth.
